Rev. Alexander Afari-Kissi was born on 5th July 1976 and hails from Anum-Boso in the Eastern Region of Ghana. He is the fifth and last-born of the late Mr Godwin Kofi Afari-Kissi, an Ex-Service man, and Mrs Margret Asabea Afari-Kissi, a businesswoman. He speaks Guan, Akuapem Twi, Asante Twi and English.
He was commissioned into the ministry on 6th August 2017 and ordained on 21st July 2019 in the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
Academically, Rev. Afari-Kissi is a PhD Candidate in Mathematics Education at Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), now USTED. He holds an MPhil in Mathematics Education (2020–2022) from AAMUSTED, an MSc in Industrial Mathematics (2011–2013) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics with Statistics (2005–2009) from the University of Cape Coast. He also holds Teacher Certificate ‘A’ in Mathematics and Technical Education from Mampong Technical College, as well as his secondary and basic education qualifications from Asamankese Secondary School and Asamankese Anum L/A Junior High School respectively.
Professionally, Rev. Afari-Kissi has served as a Mathematics and Science teacher at Akraman Junior High School, Mathematics teacher at Nyinahin Catholic Senior High School, and currently serves as a Mathematics teacher at Oppon Memorial Senior High School. He has also served as Head of the Mathematics Department at Nyinahin Catholic SHS, National INSET Mathematics Trainer for Atwima Mponua District, and UNICEF/GES Universal Design for Learning Trainer in Bosomtwe District. He also serves as School-Master Chaplain at Oppon Memorial Senior High School, Kokofu.
In the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Afari-Kissi has served in various ministerial, administrative and leadership capacities, including as Minister-in-Charge of Hope Congregation, Kuntenase; Minister-in-Charge of Emmanuel Congregation, Asikafoc Ammentam; and currently Minister-in-Charge of Trinity Congregation, Abrepo-Bronikrom. He has also served in several District and Presbytery leadership roles.
From 1st September 2026, Rev. Alexander Afari-Kissi assumed duty as the Clerk of Asante Presbytery, having previously served as Secretary of the Asante Presbytery Ministers’ Fellowship from 2024 to August 2026.
Rev. Afari-Kissi is passionate about prayer, Bible study, child evangelism, particularly among unreached groups, education and social work. He is also an author and researcher with publications in Applied Mathematics and Mathematics Education.
Rev. Afari-Kissi is married to Mrs Sandra Afari-Kissi, a Science teacher at Oppon Memorial Senior High School, and they are blessed with five children—two boys and three girls, including one adopted child.
His life and ministry reflect a commitment to faith, education, leadership, service and the advancement of the mission of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.
