At the opening ceremony, the Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery, Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, highlighted the essential role of counseling in the church’s mission. He addressed the impact of modern societal pressures, noting that many individuals suffer in silence. Rev. Ahima-Yeboah urged the Presbyterian counselors to develop innovative methods to address the diverse and evolving counseling needs within their congregations and communities.

The special guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Anokye Nkansah, emphasized the need for congregations and Ministers to prioritize counseling as a powerful means of addressing life’s challenges. He stressed that counseling services should extend beyond pre-marital counseling, to cover critical areas such as fertility concerns, social media addiction, the struggles of widows and widowers, youth betting habits, and life management as a whole. “Counselling should evolve with society to meet its demands,” he urged.

Mrs. Ivy Anane-Adjei, President of the Presbyterian Counsellors Association, expressed the association’s commitment to supporting the church through dedicated counseling services. She called upon the General Assembly to include the association’s activities in the church’s 2026 almanac. “Inclusion in the almanac will raise awareness of the value of counseling, creating a safe, non-judgmental space where members can share struggles and receive emotional support,” she noted.

Mrs. Anane-Adjei added that this recognition would increase awareness of the association’s services among congregants, and to further solidify their roles within the church.

The Assembly is expected to elect new leadership to steer the affairs of the Association for the next three years.
