TRINITY CONGREGATION, ABREPO-KUMASI MARKS 25 YEARS WITH CHAPEL AND MANSE DEDICATION

The Trinity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, located in Abrepo, Kumasi, climaxed its 25th anniversary celebrations with the dedication of a new chapel and manse. The ceremony, held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, was officiated by the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye.

In his address, Rt. Rev. Dr. Kwakye commended the congregation for their remarkable progress over the past 25 years. He, however, urged them to intensify their evangelism and mission outreach efforts to spread the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. The Moderator also charged the congregation to maintain the newly dedicated edifice as a sanctified space for worship and service to the Lord.

The occasion was attended by a large gathering of clergy, past and present members, family, and friends of the church, who gathered to thank God for the church’s milestone achievement.

Present at the ceremony were Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery; Rev. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Clerk of Presbytery and Minister-in-Charge; Very Rev. Dr. Sam Prempeh, Past Moderator; and Rev. Daniel Bosea Gyinantwi, Bohyen District Minister, among others.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE TRINITY CONGREGATION

The church was born out of an evangelism outreach organized by the Evangelism Committee of Bohyen Presbyterian Church in collaboration with two visiting missionaries, Miss Nancy Stillwell and Mr. Jeremiah Brinkman from Global Missions Fellowship, USA. These missionaries were invited by the Ghana Evangelism Committee. A three-day outdoor crusade was held from 22nd to 24th June 1999 at the Abrepo Funeral Grounds, with Evangelist Morgan as the main speaker.

Following the crusade, a brief yet memorable ceremony was held on 25th June 1999 at True Light Church premises, where the missionaries were seen off. The sermon for this occasion was delivered by Catechist S. O. Afrifa.

On Sunday, 27th June 1999, the church held its maiden service at Abrepo Methodist Primary School, marking the first service for the new congregation. The sermon was preached by the late Mr. S. M. Koranteng, who was the Senior Presbyter and Chairman of the Evangelism Committee at Bohyen Presbyterian Church at the time. A total of 132 people attended the service, including 59 members from Bohyen Presbyterian Church, 7 from Bantama Presbyterian Church, 3 from Suame Presbyterian Church, 7 new converts and 56 children.
