The Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has officially launched “Agenda 2 Million,” a transformation growth agenda aimed at growing the membership of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana by Two (2) million by the year 2028. A core part of this ambitious agenda includes planting 1,000 new churches (Congregations) worldwide, with the Asante Presbytery, a leading Presbytery of the PCG, committing to establish 123 of these churches.

The launch event was held at the historic Ramseyer Congregation in Adum, Kumasi, and brought together key figures in the Church, including District Ministers, Lay Representatives, and Mission and Evangelism Coordinators from all 41 Pastoral Districts, reaffirming the Presbytery’s commitment to expanding its outreach and influence. These leaders will play critical roles in ensuring the success of the agenda, with plans for each District to replicate the launch at the local level. This decentralized approach is intended to create a unified, coordinated effort across the Presbytery to achieve the set objectives.

With a current membership exceeding 200,000, the Asante Presbytery stands as the largest within the Presbyterian Church of Ghana. The Chairperson of the Presbytery emphasized the firm dedication of the church to Evangelism and Mission, describing them as the core mission of the PCG. He stressed that the ‘Agenda 2 million’ is not merely about increasing numbers but about fulfilling the church’s mission of spreading the gospel and reaching more communities across Ghana and the world at large.

The National Director of Mission and Evangelism Department, Rev. Dr. E.K. Sarbah, provided insights into the expectations placed on all members of the church, and stressed the importance of collective action to meet the ambitious target.

The Chairperson was supported at the launch by the Clerk of Presbytery, Rev. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, Lay Rep on GAC, Dr. Antwi Boasiako, Rev. Samuel K. Darko (M&E, Director, Asante) and other Departmental Heads.
