In a solemn ceremony, 33 Catechists, comprising 31 males and two (2) females, were consecrated at the Ebenezer Congregation in Old Tafo, Kumasi on Sunday, December 10, 2023. 

 

The event, which served as the climax of their year-long preparatory process, took place after the candidates successfully completed the Lay Ministerial Training (LMT) at the reputable Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC) in Abetifi-Kwahu.

 

Presenting the candidates, the Centre Director of RTC, Rev. Gideon B. Puplampu, highlighted the rigorous and comprehensive preparation the catechists underwent at the Ramseyer Training Centre. 

 

He expressed confidence in their readiness to officially embark on their service to the church, emphasizing that their training had equipped them to navigate the challenges and responsibilities that come with their calling.

WORDS OF CHARGE:

Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, the Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery, delivered the charge to the newly consecrated catechists. He urged them to be exemplary ambassadors for God and the church, emphasizing the importance of a humble and teachable spirit.

 

Rev. Ahima-Yeboah, again, underscored the significance of personal and family devotions, noting that such practices would fortify them for the demanding tasks of their ministry. He encouraged them to embody their new status through their actions and deeds, portraying the values and principles of their calling in every aspect of their lives.

 

He was full of praise for the faculty and service community of RTC, the Director of Church Life and Nurture for the effort they have invested in preparing the Catechists.

 

THE 2023 COHORT

The 2023 cohort includes Emmanuel F. Twum-Barima, Nana Kwartemaa A. Sarfo, Eric Owusu Baffour, Patricia Gifty Kumi, Kwame Asamoah Acheampong, Kingsley Sarfo, Edward Asare Bannor, Ben Adu, Commey Quarshie Stephen, Albert Larbi.

 

The rest are, Amankwaa Nyame Gideon, Adu Gyamfi Michael, Isaac Owusu, Paul Appiah, Ernest Mensah, Samuel Dankwah, Kyei Boadu, Acheampong Baah, Samuel, Gyamfi Paul, Boakye Ernest, Owusu Mark, Obeng kofi Prince, Buabeng Jesus, Darkwah Michael Owusu, George Acnheampng, Nasta Ohene Agyei.

Completing the list are Kingsley Osei-Bonsu, Baffour Gyau F. Albert, Ampomah Frank, Robert Osei Danso, Augustine Kaatu, Patrick Nti and Samuel Annan.

 

The Consecration service was led by Rev. Baffour Owusu Gyimah, CLAN Director, and Officiated by the Chairperson, Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, with  support from Mrs. Betty Asare Antwi-Duah,Lay Representative on GAC, Rev. Gideon B. Puplampu, Director RTC, Rev. Dr. William Owusu Boateng, Old Tafo District Minister.

 

In attendance were Rev. Kwadwo Nkansah, Maakro District Minister, Rev. Emmanuel Oppong Peprah, Tutor RTC, Rev. Daniel Brobbey, West Brong Presbytery, Rev. Ebenezer Abrokwah, Associate Minister, Old Tafo, Catechist Nana Kwaku Asare, President of PRECACON, among other Clergy, Catechists’ and Spouses, family and well wishers.

 

As these newly consecrated catechists officially enter the service of the church, the entire Presbytery extends congratulations and best wishes, trusting that their ministry will be a source of  guidance, and spiritual nourishment for all.
