Ramseyer Technical Institute (RTI) has recorded its highest student admission in the past three years since becoming a government-assisted Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) provider, with 450 students admitted for the 2026/2027 academic year.
The figure represents a significant increase from the 270 students admitted in the 2025/2026 academic year, reflecting growing interest in TVET education.

The Principal of RTI, Mr. Anthony Amankwah Sarkodie, said the growing admission numbers were a positive indication of the increasing attractiveness of TVET education among the Ghanaian public. According to him, 80% of the newly admitted students selected Ramseyer Technical Institute as their first choice, demonstrating the growing confidence in the Institute and the increasing preference for skills-based education.
Mr. Amankwah Sarkodie noted that the development also points to a broader shift in society’s perception of TVET, which is increasingly being recognised as an important pathway to employment, entrepreneurship and economic development.
He stressed that TVET has a critical role to play in addressing unemployment in the country by equipping young people with practical and employable skills.

He said the growing interest in TVET should encourage stakeholders to invest further in technical and vocational institutions, particularly, Ramseyer Technical Institute to expand access and provide young people with the skills required to participate meaningfully in the labour market.
Established on 1 October 1976, Ramseyer Technical Institute (RTI) has trained more than 30,000 skilled men and women, contributing significantly to Ghana’s industrial development and manpower needs over the past five decades. As part of activities marking its Golden Jubilee Anniversary, the Institute will officially launch its 50th anniversary celebration on Sunday, 22 November 2026, at the Ramseyer Congregation, Adum-Kumasi.
