Ing. Nana Asafo Asamoah-Mono, a philanthropist and alumnus of Adukrom Presbyterian Primary School, has fully renovated a six-unit classroom block and the head teacher’s office for his alma mater.
The project, which cost over GH¢350,000, was handed over in a formal ceremony on Thursday 17th October, 2024, providing a major facelift to the school, which had not undergone any significant renovations since its establishment in 1947.
Prior to the renovation, the school had deteriorated severely, with leaky roofs, cracked walls, and weak structural support, making it a potential safety hazard for both students and teachers.
Ing. Asamoah-Mono was inspired to take on this extensive project after a rainstorm in January 2024 tore off parts of the school’s roof, leaving it in an even more perilous state. His decision to fund the renovation single-handedly was driven by a desire to provide a safer and more conducive learning environment for the pupils and staff.
At the commissioning of the renovated block, the Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery, Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, commended Ing. Asamoah-Mono for his remarkable contribution to the school and society at large. He urged others to follow in his footsteps by giving back to their communities, especially to institutions that shaped their early lives.
Rev. Ahima-Yeboah also emphasized the need for the school to implement proper maintenance practices to preserve the facility, noting that good upkeep would encourage further philanthropic support.
In his brief remarks, Ing. Asamoah-Mono expressed that the renovation was his way of giving thanks to God and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana for the strong educational foundation they had provided him. He acknowledged the pivotal role the school had played in shaping his life and career, and he further donated a set of jerseys and footballs to the school as a gesture of continued support.
The commissioning ceremony drew a host of distinguished guests, including the Chief of Adukrom, Nana Adu-Gyamfi; Rev. George Nyamebekyere, Adukrom District Minister, Political and opinion leaders from the Asokore Mampong Municipal Education Directorate; the Regional Manager of Presbyterian Schools, Rev. Alexander Nyantakyi; old students; parents; and teachers.
Ingr. Nana Asafo Asamoah-Mono, the Church, the School is grateful to you.
