Clerk of General Assembly, Rev. Dr. Godwin Nii Noi Odonkor, has touted the significant impact of the Strategic plan of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana which was launched at the 2019 General Assembly. He made this known during his administrative visit to the Asante Presbytery between
26th February and March 1 ,2024.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Church, the Strategic plan had bred into the general life of the church some level of intentionality and purposefulness. He emphasized that the Strategic plan runs on the Cliché “What gets measured, gets done” Because of that, all stakeholders must brace themselves to study and implement fully and faithfully the expectations of the Strategic Plan to ensure the overall growth of the Church.

According to the Policy document, the current plan is the second Strategic Plan of the Church, slated for ten (10) years, 2020 to 2029. It further states that, “the first Strategic Plan (2005 -2015) generated a lot of enthusiasm for the Church, as it revealed a lot of activities within the seven (7) Key Results Areas (KRA) at the General Assembly (GA) Court, had not been attended to, for effective management and growth of the Church.”

Therefore, the current strategic plan’s overall goal is to fill the gaps identified and to promote the total growth of the Church – in numbers, spiritual quality, and the well-being of members.This is to be achieved by taking practical steps to implement the stated mission of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana.

According to the Clerk, the twin feature of appraisal and accountability built into the strategic plan has forced congregations and departments, who hitherto, reneged on some of their responsibility to rise to the occasion.

According to Rev. Dr. Odonkor “If the Strategic Plan asks that you plant a church within a specific period, or visit Senior High School (SHS) students in your congregations, the congregation or District will find it needful to marshal resources and personnel to get it done and report same” he said.

He ended with a call on all to work diligently by the dictates of the Strategic plan, so that “the Presbyterian Church of Ghana will grow in leaps and bounds in the years ahead”
