CONSECRATION AT NYINAHIN

3rd December 2019

By the grace of God, Nyinahin District in the Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has trained and Consecrated twenty (20) Caretakers to the position of Catechist.

The Catechists’ Consecration came off in a very colorful and impressive service held at the Ebenezer Congregation, Nyinahin, in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
In a homily under the PCG theme “God is Merciful,” Rev Dr. Williams Owusu Boateng, Bomso District Minister, who came to represent the Asante Presbytery Chairperson, admonished the new Catechists to go to their stations to exhibit the kind of mercy that Christ demonstrated on the Cross for wretched sinners like us. He further charged them to go and serve with Christ-like humility.
Rev. Dr. Owusu Boateng commended both the leaders and members of the Nyinahin District for the bold decision to train such an unprecedented number of Catechists, twenty, in the annals of PCG. No District has ever made such an attempt. On behalf of the the Asante Presbytery Council Standing Committee, Rev. Dr. Owusu Boateng thanked all those members from the Nyinahin District who donated one or two bags of Cocoa and cash to support the training.

When given the opportunity, the Director of the Ramseyer Training Centre (RTC), Abetifi, Rev. Gideon B. Puplampu, advised the 20 Catechists to go and prove themselves that truly, they have been trained. This must reflect in their sermon preparations and deliveries. He also touched on the need to have regular refresher courses with the RTC. Rev Puplampu was however not happy with the way some Catechists dress these days! He therefore charged on the newly-trained Catechists to always put on their prescribed attire.

Rev. Benjamin Sabi Otchere, the Asante Presbytery Clerk, was the Service leader for the occasion. Dignitaries present included Rev. (Rtd) Otuo Acheampong, (Past Asante Presbytery Chairperson and an uncle to Rev. Samuel Adu-Gyamfi, the Nyinahin District Minister), Hon. William Yaw Darko (Atwima Mponua District Chief Executive), Nobel Christian Osei Bonsu (CEO, Amanano Rural Bank), Rev’ds Samuel Yaw Owusu (Sreso-Tinpom Minister in-Charge) and Isaac Osei Antwi (Kwanfinfi Minister in-Charge).
Cat. Nana Kwaku Nsiah Asare (Chairman of the Asante Presbytery Catechists/Caretakers Conference) and some executive members on the Presbytery Catechist’s Conference including the Vice-Chairman of the National Catechists/Caretakers Conference), Cat. Joseph W. Fynn.
Members from all the 39 Locals making-up the Nyinahin District came to worship at Nyinahin to thank God and also to witness the Consecration Service.

The newly-Consecrated Catechists comprising two (2) women and 18 men were Catechists Stella Addai (Nkyensekrom), Phyllis Ofori (Nkrumah), Anthony Frimpong (Adiembra), Joseph Afram (Kataakyewa), Emmanuel K. Sosu (Adupri), Kwame Afriyie (Nyinahin NOP & Children’s Service Coordinator), Joseph Adjei (Akwabraso), Bernard Frimpong (Kotokuom), Sampson Osei Kwame (Wansambire), George Obeng Tenkorang (Bontomuruso) and James Asamoah (Amadaa).

He added that all his words could be summarized with the words of Matthew 19:36 “Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”
