The Asante Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has consecrated 36 Catechists of which 33 males and 3 females at the Trinity Congregation, Kwadaso in Kumasi.
The Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Benson Osafo-Kantankah in his message thanked God for their training and subsequent consecration. He said, to be chosen for as Catechist is a privilege which goes with responsibilities, but thanks be to God that He never leaves us to do the work all alone. God’s workers are assured of His divine guidance and support. He added that Church members today have great expectations from us who are their shepherds. The trend of Ministry today is causing confusion for many rather than having faith in God. The lifestyles of some preachers no longer match what they preach. These indeed send wrong signals to the world, especially the non-Christians.
Rev. Benson Osafo-Kantankah congratulated them on behalf of the Asante Presbytery Council on this great occasion of their consecration into Ministry.
Presenting the candidates for consecration, Rev. Joseph Akoma Cromwell representing the Director of Ramseyer Training Center, Abetifi, Rev. G. Buernor Puplampu, gave out the profile of each of the candidates and their spouses.
The Course Rep. Cat. Samuel Kwarteng for the 2019 year group of Catechists training, thanked God on behalf of his year group. He said, “I appreciate the unflinching support received from Faculty of Ramseyer Training Center, the Church, family and friends that have made over long-awaited desire to be Catechists in the Church [PCG] a reality.” He added that “the title Catechist will not be the last thing we have learned. We will not settle for what we have already reached but will continue learning until we achieve excellence as Catechists of our ever-growing church.”
The occasion was witnessed by; Rev. Benjamin Sabi Otchere (Presbytery Clerk), Rev. A. Akonnor Ampofo (Clan Director), Rev. Ernest Odame Asare (District Minister, Asawase), Rev. Mack Appiah Amo (District Minister, Kwadaso), Mr. David Boakye Kesse (Presbytery Lay Rep.) and a host of Reverend Ministers and Catechists.
