Asante Presbytery attained another milestone on Sunday 28th January, 2024, when the Retired Ministers and Spouses Fellowship was formally inaugurated at the Mount of Olives Congregation-Patasi.
This is in adherence to a directive issued by the General Assembly Office in 2022 for the formation and inauguration of Presbytery Chapters of the National Association. The initiative aims to unite and provide support for retired ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana residing in the Asante Presbytery.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the induction of 56 esteemed members, comprised of 29 retired ministers and 27 spouses.
Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah, Chairperson, presided over the induction ceremony, assisted by Rev. Benson Osafo Kantanka, immediate past Chairperson of Asante Presbytery, who played a critical role in the formation of the fellowship.
Imparting a charge to the members, Rev. Samuel Ahima-Yeboah emphasized the importance of fostering unity and a sense of community among the retired ministers and spouses. Additionally, he urged them to make themselves available to serve in advisory roles for current ministers within the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, especially Asante Presbytery.
Highlighting the significance of the fellowship, Rev. Ahima-Yeboah underscored the necessity of such a community for the senior citizens who dedicated their lives to the service of God and the Church. In a touching reminder, he expressed the belief that “they, too, would join this esteemed fellowship one day”.
The executive team for the newly inaugurated chapter is as follows:
1. Rev. Dr. I.K Forkuo: President
2. Rev. Otuo Acheampong: Vice President
3. Rev. Moses Opoku Agyemang: Secretary
4. Rev. J.C. Dapaah: Assistant Secretary
5. Rev. S.K. Mensah: Treasurer/Financial Secretary
6. Mama Salomey Marfo: Member
7. Mama Margaret Darko Acquah: Member
The executive team, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. I.K Forkuo, is poised to guide the fellowship in its mission to provide support, unity, and a platform for service to retired ministers and spouses within the Asante Presbytery.
Ayekoo!! to our esteemed Senior Citizens.
