The donation which included sachet water, sanitary pads, toiletries, soft drinks, tooth pastes and brushes among others was donated on Friday 1st December 2023.
Mr. Evans Acquah, Asante Presbytery YAF President presenting the items said the donation was in line with the Fellowship’s resolve in the last few years to support such needy institutions in the Presbytery. He noted that two years ago, YAF donated to the Amanfrom Prison in the Bohyen District whiles they visited an orphanage home in the Kokofu District.
“We have decided to support needy people every year. Last year we went to Kokofu Children’s Home and celebrated the Christmas with them and this year, we decided to come to the Kumasi Female Prison and interact with the inmates”.
He took the opportunity to call on other groups and organizations to prioritize support for the marginalized and needy people in the country and further called on females to exhibit Godliness in their endeavours in order not to end up in prison.
“Although they are in prison, we want to use this opportunity to express our love and care for them. I would like to advise all Christians to also care for them and never neglect them because they are still our brothers and sisters”.
Receiving the items, Assistant Superintendent of Prisons (ASP) Eva Oteng, expressed appreciation to the Asante Presbytery YAF for their donation and prayed God to bless them accordingly.
She enumerated impatience, relationship matters, fraud, and quarrels over household chores among others as the leading factors of female imprisonment.
In attendance were the Presbytery Secretary, Ewurabena Sey, Presbytery Organizer, Samuel Oti, Presbytery Financial Secretary and some District representatives.
