14th November 2018
Being new to the Presbytery as Chairperson, Rev. Benson Osafo Kantanka has taken time to embark on familiarization visitation to all the District head stations within the Presbytery. Accompanied by the Clerk, Rev. Benjamin Sabi Otchere, the Presbytery Lay Rep. to GAC, Mr. David Boakye Kessie and the Presbytery Public Relations Officer, Rev. Ebenezer Ahenkan Owusu the visit covered 36 Districts out of the 38 within the Presbytery. The remaining two Districts – Akwasiso and Akomadan are scheduled for a later time.
The visitation commenced on the 29th October, 2018 and ended on the 5th October, 2018. The Chairperson and his entourage met with Agents, Standing Committee and Session members of the Head Station of the various Districts. Rev. B. Osafo Kantanka in all his speech made known the direction of the Presbytery as he humbly asked all stake holders to sit up in order to push the Presbytery much higher.
One key issue he kept hammering through the visits is the expectation of groups and congregations on the Seven Key Results areas. He asked that each group should plan and reports on these areas at all times as the congregation also do same. For instance, YPG should work on ESR – their activities and programme must reflect on ecumenism and their relationship with traditional rulers, people with other faith etc.
Prompt payment of assessment was not left out from the conversation. Rev. Osafo Kantanka established the importance of embarking on projects within the Congregations and Districts meanwhile, they must not cripple the Presbytery and Head Office activities since they depend on it. He further explained that assessment is not set to weaken the finances of congregations. The Presbytery is making all effort and has reduced her budget expenditure in order to lighten assessment for the year 2019. He further urged the Districts to do same for their locals.
